Thesis Statement
Joe is trying to do the right thing by buying all the land and trying to make the town better by putting in the store and the post office, but is not doing the right thing when he treats Janie like crap and doesn't let her do anthing that she wants to do.

Their Eyes were Watching God.
Ch. 7
The scene that interested me the most is in chapter 7 when Janie and Joe get into a fight in the store. Janie is having trouble cutting a plug of tabacco for a customer. Joe sees this and begins to make fun of janie in front of all the costumers in the store. Janie doesn't like this so she insults his sagging body and says that he looks like "de change uh life," and this gets Joe very embarassed. The insult toward Joe stuns all of the3 men on the porch and they can't believe what jsut happened. Joe doesn't like what Janie just did so he hits her across the face because he fells his power of the town begin to vanish.

There eyes were watching god
The scence that interests me is when Jody buys all the land, and then decides to build the store and post office, in this scene it seems that Jody is all about doing the right thing. He hosts a town meeting so he can tell everyone what he is doing, and then he ends up becoming mayor of the town. This interest me because he's doing the right thing by making the town better. Jody is not doing the right thing by treating Janie like crap and not letting herlive her life the way she wants to

Their Eyes Were Watching God-ch.1-2
This quote means that men watch the boats everyday becasue they believe that one day somehting special will come off that boat. For other men they hope it will come in by sea. For others there dream is to sail forever and to never land until the watcfher turns his head and dies. Women dont want to rememver all the things they forgot, but for other women they want to remember everything they dont want to forget. And then they end up doing things the way they wanted to do them.

Huckleberry Finn
Pg. 72
Pap always said, take a chicken when you get a chance, beacause if you dont want him yourself you can easy find somebody who does, and a good deed aint ever forgot.
-This means that you should never pass anything up, because even if you dont need it yourself someone else might need it and a good deed is never forgotten and in time you will most likely end up recieving a good deed by that person.
Pg. 89
But i reckon it was more than a cat-nap, for when I walked up the stars was shining bright, the fog was all gone, and I was spinning down a big bend stern first.
-This means that he was dreaming, but he was dreaming about what was happening in the water and he didnt know if i was real or if it was a dream.

Song of Myself
"Do I contradict myself? Very well, I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"
-In this quote Walt Whitman is relating himself to Ralph Waldo Emerson's beliefs that were [rotrayed in "Self Reliance." Whitman admits that he contradicts himself, because he will write about what he did one day that will contradict the previous day.
The past and present wilt- I have fill'd them, emptied them. And proceed to fill my next fold of the future.
-Now that the past and present are over I can start to create and fill my future.
